GABRIELA GARCIA

My name is Gabriela Garcia, and I am the founder of Resilient Skin Co.

As an young adult in my early 20s, I decided to pursue what is known as “The American Dream.” I prioritized my career, romantic relationship and my family needs.
 I was hit with the daunting challenges of chronic stress, cultural guilt, and unhealthy understanding of boundaries. These obstacles took a toll on my mental and physical well-being. I neglected myself without knowing it at the time because I had to keep up with the fast paced job-environment I was in.

 In the end, I found myself letting myself go. I didn’t do any of the things that brought me joy. I also began to experience painful cystic acne in my face and chest. I remember at one point I hated how I looked and felt.

WHY DID I CREATE RESILIENT SKIN COSMETICS

I understand the struggles of having active acne and skin concerns. And for once in my life I wanted to have the illusion of perfect skin once again. I looked over to the power of makeup to help me hide my imperfections but finding the right one was challenging. The makeup I tried was often too heavy, required too many layers, left creases, created patches and would rub off my skin easily - no matter what I did.

This is when I decided that I must create my own product to help me, and others, achieve this perfect-looking skin without these effects, whilst also optimizing my time for my make-up, eliminating tons of products and avoiding a heavy skin care routine.

When once I thought that self-care was a luxury and something I would never be able to have because of my cystic acne, today, I define it as an act of self-love and self-preservation.
